Welcome to Bountiful Home Life!

In his 1828 dictionary, Noah Webster defines bountiful as: "Free to give; liberal in bestowing gifts and favores; munificent; and generous." We at Bountiful Home Life want to bestow upon you helpful tips and ideas for enjoying your life. We enjoy reading the many home decorating magazines out there, but discovered that they usually did not represent us. We are just average people with small homes, on small lots, with small incomes. We don't think that we are alone! Therefore, we have created this site for those who live in the REAL world.

We live in the high desert in Arizona where it freezes in the winter, but is quite warm in the summer. Our lot is 1/3 acre and our landscaping is quite extensive and increasing each year. This year we built some nice lattice, privacy screens on our patio. We planted Star Jasmine on them. We are hoping that the jasmine will survive the winter here and remain permanently in our landscape. We planted that cherry tree late February this year. It didn't produce any fruit this year, but it sure grew a lot!

Our watermelon plant produced three fruit. They were sweet and delicious. I will certainly plant them again next year.

My husband's project to paint the house trim became more extensive than he figured. When he got to the trim downstairs under the balcony, he decided to stop and close in the beams first. He boxed in the metal posts that support the balcony and Arizona room. To finish it off, he also installed a ceiling fan with a light. Below are the before and after photos.

Summer is gone and Fall is taking over here. We had some freezing two nights in a row and my tomato plant died with the first one. The leaves on our Mimosa trees are falling also. I am anxious to see which new plants will survive throught the winter. I am hoping some will stay green. Others may die off, but will hopefully return in Spring.
